PREFERENCES GRANTED •IRISH FREE STATE HOLDS ALOOF With the signing of agreements with all Dominions, with' t;ie exception of the ilrish Free State, the Ottawa Conference has teen brought to a close. Compromises were reached on many points at issue and though the Dominions have had some of their demands rejected, the view of tho delegates is that the agreements will go far to restoring prosperity and open a new era in Inter-Empire relations. Jlr. Goates said that the result of the conference would prove of the greatest henefit to the Dominions and would mean the restoration of the welfare of the people. The- Prime Minister of Canada read a message frbm His Majesty the King who said, "I am confident that the result of your labour will spread mutual helpfulness and real benefit to my people."
