' The Government meteorologist 1ssued the foHowing weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: A shallow wes- ■ terly depression is crossing New Zealand, followed by another anti-cyclone. Forecast: Winds, moderate to fresh northerlies to 'north-westerlies north of Otago, moderate to strong westerlies graduaily becoming general. Weather: Rather unsettled, showery in most districts; temperatures becoming* colder. Following are the barometer, maximum and minsmum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Govern'ment Observation Station by the Fiotorua Tourist department for the 24. hours ended at 9.30 SATURDAY Barometer 30.313ins. Thermometer (max.) 60.3deg. Thermometer (min.) 39.0deg*. Thermometer (min. on grass) 34.2deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 7.8hrs. SUN DAY Barometer .... 30.145ins. Thermometer (max.) 57.9deg. Thermometer (min.) 37.2deg. Thermometer (mfn. on grass) 30.8deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 5.9hrs.
