district sales MEDIUM YARDING AT RULING RATES SOLD AT MATAMATA GOOD HEIFERS IN DEMAND The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company Ltd., report: — At Matamata sale on W'ednesday, a medium yarding of fat and store cattle sold at rates on a par with other saies. A medium yarding of dairy cattle came forward. Competition was not keen except on choice Jersey heif'srs showing well forward in calf. Pigs: A full yarding of store and weaner pigs came forward. Light porkers and large stores sold readily but slips and weaners were not so keenly competed for. Quotations: Fat Hoggets, prime 16/6, fat heifers £2 5/- to £4 6/-, heavy fat cows £4 2/- to £5 5/-, medium fat cows £2 19/- to £3 18/-, light fat cows £1 19/- to £2 1/6, sound young store cows and heifers £1 7/6 to £2 8/-, 2-year empty heifers £1 10/- to £2 16/-, yearling Jersey heifers £2' 9/- to £2 14/-, inferior sdrts £1.1/- to £1 10/-, yearling Jersey bulls £2 10/- to £3. Dairy Cattle: Pedigree Jersey heifers 91gns to 14gns., pedigree Jersey cows '4Jgns to lOgns., Jersey heifers, close to profit £5 to £7 10/-, Shorthorn heifers close to profit £6, more backward heifers £3 to £4 10/-, good house cows £10, Jersey cows £6 to £6 10/-. Pigs: Light porkers 21/- to 24/6, store, large 19/- to 22/-, smaller stores 15/- to 18/6, slips 10/- to 13/6, good weaners 9/6 to 12/-, smaller weaners 6/- to 8/-. FRANKTON PRICES The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report that at W'ednesday's Frankton dairy sale they offered a medium entry of both' dairy cows and heifers. Prices were on a par with recent quotations: — Good dairy heifers made £5 5/- to £7; fair quality do. £4 5/- to £5; poorer sorts up to £3 10/-; good dairy cows £5 to £6 10/-; medium quality £3 10/- to £5; poorer types up to £3 5/-.
