Marine Drive Portion of the reeently formed roadway round the lakeside ' at the Government Grounds, has been remetalled by the Tourist Department, and when the whole length to the main drive of the grounds has been completed and further tree planting carried out, the drive should be a popular one with motorists. Re-Stocking Operations The re-stockiug of the lakes and streams of the Rotorua district with trout fry is proceeding rapidly. During the week ending to-day 360,000 fry have been liberated in various lakes and 420,000 ova taken into the hateheries. Sharp Corner Being Removed A start was made this week by Borough Couneil workmen with the work of rounding off the dangerous corner at the end of Ranolf Street at Ohinemutu in order to give motorists a better view of approaching traffic. The corner will also he regraded and widened and, when completed, will remove yet another traffic danger. Forestry Work The programme of work mapped out by Perpetual Forests for this season is approaching completion. Yesterday 30 men, comprising two camps, were discharged and it is expected that another 30 will he paid off within the next fortnight. There are no special circumstances attached to the dismissals. The comp'any simply started work early this year and has, therefore, completed th'e allotted programme earlier than usual. Trout Tagging Discussing the tagging of trout Mr A. Keanj Conservator of Fish and Game, stated yesterday that the system had been followed up in Rotorua. The tagging was usually done when the fish came into the spawning traps. A miniature tag, carrying a number held by a small aluminium ring, was attached to the dorsal fin of the fish and a circular was sent to fish'ermen asking them to notify the department of any such fish taken, together with their length and weight. There had not been a very great re-sp-onse, but oceasional useful information" was obtained, especially with regard to the migrating habits of the fish. The tag also made it possible to keep traee of a fish's growth and condition as th'e weight and length were noted at the time of tagging. Snow White Cauliflowers at 4d each.
