RED TERROR
GEEMAN WORKING CLASS FORCED INTO UNITY BY NAZIS. ■ RESISTING OUTRAGE. ' London, Saturday. Ona effeet of the continued terrorism in Germany, which has opened everybody's eyes to the true charaeter of the Nazis, i's the rapid advance of working-class unity everywhere, reports the Berlin eorrespondent of the Manchester Guardian. Socialists and C.ommunists are forming joint defence organisations. Socialist Party leaders yesterday informed Herr Bracht that they would authorise their followers to take immediate nieasures of self-d'efence if the Nazi outrages did not cease. They have not ceased, though the Government has appealed to Herr Ilitler to exercise a restraining influence. Even the police now admit that the Konigsberg outrages were committed by Nazis. Red Clara. The Government apparently -has begun to realiso that to condone tertorist violence is not a simple matter in a country with a highly developed eivilisation, and a great Labour movement witli political and revolutionary experience at least as great as von Papen's and von Schelich'er's. "Red" Clara Zetkin, whose elaim to preside at the opening 01* the Reichstag until the appointment of a President has been put forward on the ground of her being allegedly the senior member, is in Moscow. The Communists announce that if her seniority is proved she will come speeially to preside. "Der Angriff," the Nazi newspaper, angrily protests against "putting this sh'ame upon the German people, that a Jewess living in Moscow and aeting on Moscow's orders will open the Reichstag." Normally the appointment of a President is slow. Hatred of Communism may impel parties to comhine to supplant Zetkin immediately.
