ENGINEER NOT PREPARED TO ARGUE WITH MR. SEMPLE
— By Telegraph — Copyright)
Hamilton, Thursday. When the allegations concerning the repair work at Arapuni, made by Mr. R. Semple, M.P., yesterday, were referred to-day to Mr. T. Rabone, engineer in charge, he stated that he would prefer not to enter into a newspaper controversy with Mr. Semple over the questions raised. "We did not expect to get the coffer dam dry at the first attempt," he said. "We have left off pumping, but we are staunching the coffer dam and making good progress. We expect a certain amount of leakage, but this can be controlled wit^i small pumping equipment." Mr. Rabone was confident that it would not be f ound necessary to dewater the headrace.
