Lancaster, the British airman who was charged with j{i"e murder of Hadyn Clarke, an inierican flyer, was aequitted by a jary here to-day. pollowing on the address to the jary by Mr. James Carson, for the jccused, which occupied four hours, (be State Attorney, Mr. Vernon Hawthorne, contended that the diary of £ccused day after day carried threats of death to the man who had stolen the love of Mrs. Keith Miller. fle said that counsel for the defence had told the jury Clarke comuitted suicide. The State witnesses, iho had not been contradicted, had gbown that "it was a clear case of jjurder contexnplated across the continent by a man who was capable, told and crafty. His diary showed his intention to kill Clarke. Judge Atkinson told the jury that lo find Lancaster guilty as a result t,f circumstantial evidence, they must fjd circumstances inconsistent with jjnocence. The jury deliberated for five hours jefore Teaching their verdict.
