THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist is« sued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: An intense anticyclone is crossing the north Tasman Sea; a spell of cold weather appears likely. Forecast: Winds moderate southwesterlies prevailing, north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, soiithwesterlies southward, strong in Foveaux Strait and fr.eshening in Cook Strait, otherwise moderate. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts with moderate temperatures, but some showers in parts of Westland and in the far south. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
