SOUND BUSINESS
HAMILTON
RESIDENT.
(To the Editor). Sir, — I have read with much interest your repert of the proposed campaign to promote the attractiveness of Rotorua. As a frequent visitor to your town I fully appreciate the possibilities behind such a project as the one just launched. Without disparaging the natural attraction of your town, or denying full measure of praise to its beautiful surroundings I must confess to finding a certain dullness in the community. Nature has done much to make Rotorua well worth while visiting, but there does not appear to be any coherent effort on the part of the people to provide amusement for the visitors. It would help materially if visitors could be impressed by tbe fact that Rotorua was not only a wonderful and charming place to visit, but also a real nappy place to spend a holiday in. Parties visiting your town have to largely make their own fun, and very little interest is taken in their presence, with the result that they sometimes pass on elsewhere. I can remember on one occasion I joined a Sunday excursion to Rotorua by train. Speaking- quite honestly I must say it was the dullest holiday I ever spent. The evenings are also dull for visitors and this fault should be rectified. Your'organisation should do much to improve the position all round and as an outsider I can assure you that I am convinced that more direct, personal interest in the amusements of visitors would be sound business. — I am, etc.
