NEW ZEALAND BEATEN BY BRITISH LEAGUE TEAM

Wellington, Wednesday. The British Rugby League team gave the New Zealand 13, a football lesson, at the Winter Showgrounds this afternoon when, in an exhibition match, the visitors piled up 59 points to New Zealand's 8. Just after the game started, L. Hutt, one of the New Zealand forwards, sustained a compound fraeture of his thumb and took no further part. The Englishmen were superior in weight, tactics, and handled freely. A brilliant display was given by the English wing three-quarters, Hudson and Woods, who possessed great pace and frequently raced away from the opposition. Tries were scored for England hy Woods, four, Feetham, two; Brogden, two; Fender, two; Hudson, Williams and Evans. Sullivan the English captain, converted ten out of the thirteen tries. Some were magnificent kicks from the side line. The New Zealand points were made up of two tries by Calder, one' being converted by Seager.
