GOLD IN SMALL CREVICES IN KAWARAU AREA
— By Telegraph — Copyrlght).
Dunedin, Wednesday. The Evening Star's Cromwell correspondent telegraphs that one of the most certain proofs that gold is being won from the Kawarau and Molyneux Rivers is the generally improved tone of business' in the central towns. Storekeepers notice an appreciable inerease in their takings and banks report a big inerease in the number of gold transactions. The fabulously rich nature of several small crevices thdt have during the past week or two been unearthed on the Kawarau has been astounding and stories of different experiences which are coming to light every day give a ready explanation of the wonderful lure of the work. The most reeent find was 60 ounces by two men. One spot, an old miner said, was absolutely studded with gold. The Kawarau dam gates will probably be closed on Saturday.
