MAKES SFORTSMEN
PHYSICAN REGARDS SUN : AS NECESSARY FACTOR. LONDON, Aug. 3. Emphasising the value of the sun in building the perfect sportsman, Sir Arbuthnot Lane, well-known physiean, writing in the "Daily Mail," says Don Bradman could never have attained his present perfection if he 'had lived in England's sunless climate. No polo team of white men can hope to defeat first-class Indians, and the same applies to cricket, Sir Arbuthnot contends. In addition to food habits and exercise, the greatest part in ohtaining the most rapid and prolonged functioning is exposure to the sun. Sir Arbuthnot instances France's climatie advantages, of which the feat of the tennis player Borotra is a great ■example. Nevertheless England, in spite of her climate, possesses, he says, many notahle veteran athletes, the principal of whom fe Hobbs, who, at 49, is still England's most reliable batsman.
