MASTER OF DISGUISE

DETECTIYE WHO POSED AS CROOK. Scotland Yard's "master of disguise," Divisional Detective-Inspector W. Keen, has retired after 27 years' service. Although he was knowr\ to many criminals in the metropolis, Divismnal Detective-Inspector Keen moved among them as a "confederate" without anyone suspecting his real identity. When Lord Byng declared war on the night clubs the inspector was able to enter many of them in the guise of a man about town. One of Inspector Keen's most sensational cases was when, disguised as a crook, he gained the confidence of a dismissed ex-constable, who was attempting to incite a convicted man to commit a burglary. It was a surprised ex-constable who ap.peared in the dock and learned that his accomplice" was a police oificer. Divisional Detective-Inspector Keen was for some time second in command of the Flying Squad.
