The Useful Starling.

A coastal farmer who has had regular visitations from the grass grub has tried out all kinds of formulae in order to eradicate the pest. He has also specially rolled pad* : docks so infected. So far he has met with absolutely no success. The gruhs attack the warmest of the pastures, those with a sunny aspect, and the renewing of the pastures had become a disheartening experience. He has come to the conclusion that the only effective remedy is the star- ; ling which does its work very thoroughly. Unf ortunately there are not : enough of the birds to cope with the ; pest and he suggests that starling ; clubs should be formed with a vieW ; to increasing their numbers.
