CAPSIZED IN DRAIN

FIVE PEOPLE HURT IN ACCIDENT NEAR OPOTIKI OPOTIKI, Monday. A motor-car accident occurred on the Kukumoa, near Opotiki, yesterday, when a ear driven by Mr. Lysaght, in passing a radio van driven by Mr. R. D. Black, broadsided in gravel and f orced the van off the road into a tidal drain, where it capsized. Besides the driver there. were four adults and a child in the van. Mr. Black was thrown through a windscreen and received cuts and injuries to the head. The other passengers, with the exception of the child, were slightly injured. The tide was low and there was only 2ft of water in the drain. The van which was badly smashed, was lifted back to the road with the aid of a crane.
