Sharemilking Projects No extensive operations have been launched in this district under the Government small farm plan, but a certain amount of progress has been made. Two families are to be provided with sharemilking on, Mr. J. E. Martin's property at Ngongotaha, and the work of constructing ihe sheds and cottages will be placqd in hand immediately. Developments are also taking place on Messrs. Hill and Son's Atiamuri station, where two sheds capable of handling 100 cows are being erected and cottages provided for four families. Rugby Weakness Reporting to the Rotorua Rughy Suh-Union on the play of the union's representative team at Putaruru last Saturday, the manager, Mr. W. S. Henderson, said that the team were heaten for the ball in the .scrums eight times out of ten and that the tackling was very poor. The entertainment provided for the .team had been first class, the union deciding to forward its appreciation to the Putaruru union. Rain In Bay of Plenty Our, Opotiki correspondent reports that yesterday's rain was extremely welcome to pastures and gardens. The present month has been an exceptionally dry period in the Bay of Plenty and in some areas, dairy stock have suffered from the lack of water. Painful Accident An employee at the Oruanui Sawmill, James Miller, aged 66 years, was admitted to IQng George V. Hospital at 6.30 yesterday evening suffering from a severe injury to , his , right hand. He was working a pianing machine when his hand came into cohtaet with the gears and two fingers were severed. Paintings of Turner Rotorua members of the W.E.A. at their weelcly meeting this evening, will devote their time to study and discussion of the art of J. M. W. Turner, the famous English landscape painter. This will be the first evening of the series devoted to painting, and with such a wide suhject as the work of Turner and assisted by an excellent series of prints, a most interesting discussion is promised. Inter-School Matches The Rotorua High School first XV. travels to Auckland to-morrow to play the annual match- against Takapuna Grammar School on Thursday. The A basketball teams of the two schools will also play their annual fixture. Thursday's match will be the sixth played between the schools and is expected to be Rotorua's hardest game this season. Takapuna Grammar and Rotorua High School were opened in the same year, 1927, and the annual Rugby and crieket matches 9-re always eagerly anticipated. The first match, played in 1927, resulted in a win for Rotorua by 42 to 3. The next year Takapuna showed a great improvement and were only heaten by 13 to 9. The last three matches played have been drawn, 0 — 0, 11 — llj and 3- — 3 in the game played at Arawa Parfe last year.
