WOMEN'S HOCKEY
j HINEMOA'S COMBINATION 1 TOO GOOD FOR WHIPPETS TAINWHA DEFAULT Whippets met Hinemoa in continuation of the B grade of the Women's Ilockey competitions on Saturday, and suffered defeat by four goals to one. j At the commencement, Whippets ! more tban held their own and soon after the bully, M. Black broke through to net for Whippets. Main- . taining the advantage for a time, Whippets were pressing Hinemoa, but tbc forwards were too slow and lost many chances. Settling down to better play, Hinemoa gradually regained lost ground, and before half-time, netted twice, the first goal coming from a badly executed clearing shot by a Whippet back. The second spell was definitely to the advantage of Hinemoa, but froquont infringements spoilt their play. Breaking away in a spirited solo dash, the Hinemoa right wing eluded the entire Whippet back line to score and shoitly afterwards yet another goal v/as added. Hinemoa were on the attack when time was called, better combination giving them the game. Hinemoa 4, Whippets 1. A Grade No matches were played in the A grade, Taniwha, who were drawn to play at Reporoa, defaulting to this team. The match between Shamrocks and Mourea was postponed until a later date. Although no definite advice has yet been received, it is probable that a Rotorua team will travel to Hamilton next Saturday to play Waikato. In anticipation cf this match the team to represent Rotorua will be published in to-morrow's "Post."
