LIVINGSTONE'S COAT

AFTER 40 YEARS HIDDEN IS PRESENTED TO CHARTERHOUSE LONDON, July 4. The overccat which was worn by David Livingstone, the missionary•xplorer, on his iast journey in Africa, has been handed over by the authorities of Charterhouse School to the trustees of the Livingstone Memorial at Blantyre, Livingstone's birthplace. It is a disreputable object enough, "or it has seen hard wear on the back if a native chief since Livingstone rave it up, probably in exchange for 'ood. The chiefs name was Matoba, md it was from him that Bishop — hen the Rev. — Chancy Maples, of the Universities Mission, acquired it, tattered, faded, and patched in typical \frican fashion, in 1877. The bishop •resentod it to Charterhouse in 1891, md it has lain in the school museum ntil now.
