Rec. Aug. 14, 5.0 p.m. SYDNEY, Sunday. There was beautiful weather for the hoclcey test for the Manhing Cup, when a crowd of 5000 saw New Zealand defeat Australia by seven goals to nil. New Zealand attacked from the first bully, and never let up until the final whistle. There was great combination between Turbitt and Bay and Anthony, while Joblin was a tower of strength in the halves and Speirs md Ewan provided a splendid defence. The Australian defence was weak on the left side, and among the roor forward display, Corme's work stood out. Bay made history by winning a penalty bully in a test match. Half-time found New Zealand leading by three to nil. The New Zealand team was unchanged at the second half, but Australia replaced Tarc at centre half . with Wanless, but without avail. The New Zealand forwards proved irresistible. Turbitt played the game of his . career. Anthony suffered a minor injury. Speirs staved off several strong attacks at the closing stages when Australia showed some patehes of hrighter work. Munro, at centre half, was responsible for three goals. The scorers were: Turbitt, four; Bay, two; Reid, one. The Governor of New South Wales, Sir Philip Game, was present at the match and was introduced to the teams.
