IN CONSECRATED GROUND
REBURIAL OF A BODY An unusual case of the disinterment of a body and its interment in the same cemetery took place lately at Weybridge, Surrey. The consent of the Home Secretary had been obtained. On April 2, 1931, the body of Lieutenant- Colonel Francis L. Swain, of the East Surrey Regiment, who had died, aged seventy-eight, was buried in an uneonsecrated part of the cemetery. At the time no opportunity presented itself for the body to be placed near his relatives in the consecrated part of the cemetery, the only empty grave space having been reserved. Negotiations have since been carried on by Colonel Swain's hrother, who SGcured the right to purchass this unoccupied grave space. The Home Secretary granted the unusual request, and the body was reinterred next to Colonel "Swain's sister-in-law without any additional service.
