MOTHERS' LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING. j I The annual meeting of the Rotorua Mothers' League took place in the Methodist schoolroom last Friday, Mrs. A. C. Randerson presiding in the unavoidable absence of the president, Mrs. H. Bertram. At the commencement of the meeting, the members stood in silence as a token of respect to Mrs. C. H. Clinkard, who passed away recently. After devotional exercises, a very interesting address by Dr. Elizabeth Bryson was read by Mrs. Randerson, which was greatly enjoyed by the listeners. After tbe reading of tbe annual report, which showed an increase in the membership of the league, the folLwing speakers were thanked fo^ 1 ddresses given during the year:- — Dr. S. H. Hay, Archdeacon C. W. Chatterton, Mr. Hamilton, Mrs. Balstrude, Rev. Ivor Bertram, Mrs. Jackson Rev. W. Speer, Mrs. Whyte, Mrs. Nelson, Dr. Bertram, Miss Sheat, and Mrs. Randerson. Thankg were also extended to the various artists who had assisted so willingly with the programmes and added so much to the enjoyment of the meetings. The retiring secretary, Mrs. II H. Davis, was thanked for the admirable manner in which she had carried out the duties of her office. Mrs.. Davis, in reply, stated that it had given her great pleasure to work with the president, Mrs. Bertram, and such a willing eommittee. It was gratifying to hear from the balance-sheet read by the t'reasurer, Mrs. Reid, that it showed a small credit balance. Mrs. Reid was thanked for her services by Mrs. S. Wallis, The following officers wero elected . for the ensuing year: — President,. Mrs. H. Bertram; vice-presidents, Mrs. D. R. Gardner, Mrs. D. M. Ford, Mrs. W. Speer; secretary, Mrs. G. Freneh; treasurer, Mrs. J. M. Roberts' eommittee, Mesdames W. Steele, W. A. McLean, T. Lindsay, G. Urquli-, :t, AC. Randerson, A. Kusabs, Quinlan and Thomas. The meeting closed with the usual hymn, after afternoon tea had baen dispensed by Mesdames B. M. Green, Millar, Thomas and Randerson.
