PRETENDED DEATH
• MAN'S BODY THROWN OVER CLIFF BY ROBBERS. A man in France who pretended death recently in order to save his life was nearly killed when robbers tossed "the body" over a cliff. A bush broke his fall, and he was able to crawl home, badly shaken. Returing from Grenoble with £240 wages for workmen, M. Divol, manager of a cement works at St. Martin de Vinoux, was held up by two masked bandits. One struck him with a beavy stone on the neck, and the other, threatening him with a revolver, snatched the wall'et. In the hope of being spared from further attack, M. Divot lay still on the ground. But the robbers, seeking tp cover up the tracks of their "murder," seiz?ed him by the head and feet and threw him down a rayine'.
