! PURDIE'S GOOD SHOV/ING I f .. | LOS ANGELES, Wednesday. In the light-weight class, Purdie ; (New Zealand) met Bianchisi • (Italy). The New Zealander began , by giving the Italian a boxing les1 son. Bianchisi v/as swinging so v-'ildly that an accidental connection might have done serious damage. j The Italian landed a hard right to ' the chin, but otherwise he missed repeatedly. This was Purdie's round. The Italian rushed in and landed • a right hand blow to the body. The j New Zealander feinted, and hit his , opponent with his right and floored j him, but he was up in an instant. Purdie's left was bobhing the'Ital- ' ian's head about. This was also the ; New Zealander's round. i In the third round, the Italian was | having the best of it. He landed ' two terrific rights to the chin. The I New Zealander was groggy and was taking a great deal of punishment, but finished the round strongly. | The crowd booed the decision for : Bianchisi and cheered Purdie lustily as he left the ring.
