BRIGHTENING UP
SOUTHERN BUILDING TRADE SHOWS CON SIDER ABLE ACTIYITY. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. From August 1 to to-day mformation regarding various building jobs totalling £8500 worth of work has heen sought hy Christchurch people at the headquarters of Allied Building Interests, which is the organisation "boosting" the No. 10 scheme in Christchurch. The jobs are of all descriptions. "Undouhtedly our activities have stirred up those with building work to be done," said Mr. W. H. Winsor, secretary of the organisation to-day. "It is, however, too soon yet to see any great practical results from the campaign, because one must remember that the people getting the information have to have their plans prepared, their prices obtained, and then have to get the authority of the certifying officer (Mr. R. T. Bailey) or the Unemployment Board, as the case may be, for the work to be done. "This all takes time, and it may still he a month or so before any real progress is made with the various jobs. However, in the meantime we are very busy, and one of the activities claiming our attention is the special stall for th'e Winter Show. One of the features of the display will be the competition among architectural students for the design of. a small house. At the show we shall be giving talks on building construction, and will distribute the fullest information possible to all who desire it concerning the building subsidy scheme."
