C.J.S. M.1NOR EVENTS CHANCES OF CANDIDATES IN 1932 WINTER CUP. THE FIELDS REVIEWED. (Notes by "Canard.") Ayart from the Grand National Steeples, consideration of the rest of the events allows plenty of room fqr speculation as to likely form at the C.J.C. meeting to-day. The Winter Cup alone has drawn a big enough field to give punterg- plenty to think about. * * * * The Trial Hurdles has not filled particularly well, only seven being left in, but these have the makings of a good contest among them. Morena, who is one of the early fancies for the Granfi National Hurdles, has top weight and his consistency must be regarded. Jayson, also in the Grand National, has three pounds less to carry and ,is meeting Full Measure, the next in order, on better terms. He beat' Full Measure at Trentham and will probably do it again. Pink Note is a moderate, but Dainty Ways appeals more after her South Canterbury win. Rameses and Jael aua improvers. .The tote may say Jayson Morena Dainty Ways from TRIAL HURDLES of 160sovs; one mile and three-quarters. — Morena 11.2, Jason 10.13, Full Measure 10.9, Pink Note 10.3, Dainty Ways 10.2, Rameses 9.8, Jael 9.0. * * * * The open six has a fair field, a dozen being paid up for. Water Powei", Ringing Cheer, Belvoir, Taku Tama and Tobaccoland appeal most, the choice falling upon Belvoir Ringing Cheer Water Power from PAPARUA HANDICAP of 160sovs; six furlongs. — Grecian Prince 9.8, Fair weather 8.13, Last March 8.11, Water Power, Belvoir, Ringing Cheer 8.9, Taku Tama 8-2, Juniper, Tobacco Land, Arrowmir 8.1, Noteworthy, Waiwene 8.0. * . $ * * The Cashmere Plate, at special weights has pulled in a nice field of hacks and it is certainly no set win for anything. Tranquility has the best credentials to date, but she is no world-beater. Hurlingham has run one or two decent races. Taunton Topthorn and Execution being the most likely to improve. Southern writers give the pahu to Topthorn Tranquility Hurlingham from — CASHMERE PLATE of 150sovs; three-year-olds, 8.0; four-ysar-olds and up^ards 8.11; six furlongs. — Execution, Hurlingham, Porlock, Takalcua, Taunton, Tranquility, Chile. Colossical Gay Robe Goldstead, Gram pian, Irish Lady, Isadore, Lord Masham, Los Quex, Molten, P^lantua, Silver Crag, SilverSight, Star Raider, Topthorn, Worship. * =!: * * Ten are in the Enfield Steeples and of these Taramoa and Royal Reign are in the Grand National in which they have already been given the once over. French Fleet tops the list and ha is where he has to carry his weight all the time. Taramoa, if not startad in the National, will be hard in this class. Okopua won so nicely on both days at Trentham that he must be given a chance. Oriflamb may not see it out, though he has beaten some National candidates recently. Apache. if he can be got to the post sound, will taka a bit of beating. One which might surprise is Postman who is a good soit. Providing they start, Royal Reign and Taramoa will be very hard to beat, danger threatening them most from Okopua Postman Oriflamb and Apache. The best read Royal Reign Taramoa Okopua from • ENFIELD STEEPLECHASE of 160 sovs; about two miles. — French Fleet 11.6, Taramoa 10.13', Okapua 10.9, Oriflam, Apache 9.13, Postman 9.6, Royal Reign 9.5, Sir Richard, Quillfire, Marco Polo 9.0. * * * -K Eight are in the Jumpers' Flat and all figure in tlie Grand National Hurdles on the second day, in addition to which Rameses is in the Trial Hurdles, Pahu heads the list with a fair weight but he can see out the. journey. Old Nukumai should also go well, but no one is likely to want to knock his moupt about and as usual the race is likely to be a slow-run one. Membo has more pace than most and stays on. Nassock may not find the distance far enough, but can go fast. He is a horse of moods. Captain's Gift has toe and so has Full Measure. The tote should be an indicator and may point to Miembo Pahu Nassock from
JUMPERS' FLAT of 160sovs; one mile and a half. — Pahu 10.8, Nukumai 10.8, Membo 10.2, Luminary 10.1, Nassock 9.12, Captain's Gift 9.11, Full Measure 9.10, Rameses 9.2. * * * * Now • for the Winter Cup. The usual big field has accepted, many having very little chance. Compi'is should be more suited by the li mile race on the second day as should Jaloux. Red Heckle is trying to stgge a come-lbaek, but despite his win at Motukarara has the h'ardest • part to do. Fast Passag will be well baqked, as will Rpyal Bengal after the way he spread-eagled his field in the Whyte Memorial. Ranelagh is working well and so is Colonel Cygnus. Beacon Fire seems to have lost the hoodoo which haunted him and actually got on the winhing list th'e other day. Merry Peel is wqrth a thought, so is Consono, and Gay Court. As always, the race is very hard to sum up, but it may be Fast Passage. Royal Bengal. fiauaiuh tm

The public choice may be Woodfull Normandy Solitaire II. from AVONHEAD HANDICAP of 150 sovs.; seven furlongs. — Merry Peel 9.7, Night Recital 9.3, Weatherly 9.2, Woodfpll, Normaudy 8.18, Solitaire II, Locksley Craigavon, Irish Chiefi£iu MnJ£ 2 Q ha- x-
