THE WEATHER
The Governrnent meteorologist I*sued the following weather report and foreoast last night: — General Situation: The depresslon to the east is moving away slowly and an anticycione is advancing toward New Zealand; pressure has fallen over the south-east of Australia. Forecast: Winds, moderate to strong south-westerlies, still of gale force in places and later varying to westerlies in and north of Cook Strait. Weather: Mainly fair in the western districts, elsewhere changeable with scattered showers, but soon improving; temperatures cold with many frosts to-night. Following are the barometer, maximum and minitnum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Governrnent Ohservation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.689ins Thermometer (max.) 48.8deg. Thermometer (min.) 34.5deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 26.4deg. Rainfall 0.09ins. Bright Sunshine 7.9hrs.
