HOSPITAL ROAD
SURFACE R4UCH TO ROUGH FOR AMBULANCE WORK. IMPROVEMENT WANTED. The condition of the road leading to King George V. Hospital was severely criticised at last night's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council. Cr. A. H. Coleman declared :t was quite unfit to take an ambuiance over with a sick or injured person, and he moved that the at- , iention of the Health Department be drawn to the necessity for repairs. Cr. A. Smith seconded the resolution, saying that the piece of road was an absolute disgrace. There was ro worse piece of road in the couiitry. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, agreed with the resolution, but suggested that the council should add that it was prepared to assist with the &Uiiervision of unemployed labour, and would provide a roller to prepare the' surface. It would show" that the council was willing to assist. Cr. E. T. Johnson said he would go further and suggest a light sealing coat. On a hill like the hospital one, the road would always Vrash away unless sealed. The motion was carried.
