CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. By a majority of 241, Eruera Tihema Tirikatene, Independent Ratana Party, was returned as member for the Southern Maori constituency. The voting was: — Eruera Tihema Tirikatene (Ind. Ratana) 425 William Te Ihaka Parata (Official Coalition) 184 Peter MacDonald (Ind.) 132 Joseph Beaton (Ind. Coalition) 113 Tame Kaiporohu Bragg (Ind. Reform) 94 Wiremu Mihaka (Ind. Coalition) 3 Total 951 On Tuesday, Mr. Mihaka announced his retirement, but once a candidate , has been nominated he must go to th'e poll.
