NOT NECESSARY TO CLOSE WORKS DURING THE SEARCH ! INVESTIGATIONS PROCEEDING

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

ARAPUNI, Wednesday. | With a lesr.ened volume of water ; in the j headrace through a partial | opening of the tunnel gates, the size j of the seepage at Arapuni has j somewhat decreased. Although nothing definite has | heen decided it is not thought that I it will be necessary to close the station down while remed'ial measures are taken. This, however, depends upon the investigations being carried out. The water has ceased going over the spillway and the level is 4ft lower than the normal working one. For the time being it will be held in the vicinity of that mark which allows the turbines to function in their usual manner and give a continual supply of j power. | The water which causes the seepage entered the ground just upstream from Ihe curtain of tile work and, running along the cut-off wall, which runs inland for 20ft., goes on past the power-house, through the drainage system eonstructed when the remedial measures were taken in 1930, and debouches into the vorge, the water forming a waterfall three feet thick.
