A good instance of the difficulty . of judging the temper of buyers these days was affoi'ded at a stock sale in Ilawke's Bay recently. An offering of three Shorthorn and five P.A. steers, all lightly finished beasts, was run into the ring. The Shorthorns were lcnocked down at £2 17s 6d to an export buyer, who offered to take the rest at the same figure. The offer was refused. On being pait on the market the second line started at £2 and advanced slowly, finally hejng sold at £2 16s to the buyer who bought the first offering.
