Mr. T. Kelly who has just been appointed to the Licensing Committee in place of the late Mr. H. R. MacDonald has occupied a very promin--ent place in local circles in Rotorua since his arriyal here. Mr. Kelly ( who came to Rotorua from Dunedin is President of the Rotorua Bowling j Club and takes a keen interest in all other forms of sport notably Golf, Cricket, Association Football, and Rugby — all of which games he has at one time played. Since his retirement from the engineering branch of the P. and T. departnient he has also cultivated the social side of life . and is a prominent member of the Rotorua Rotary Club and also of the Orphans. Keenly interested in Rugby, Mr. Kelly has many memories of the 1905-6 All Black team and as an ardent supporter of the Otago University team, always states that the Varsity team of 1905 was the finest combination of footballers ever seen in New Zealand. Mr. H. Bennett, of Tauranga, well known in racing circles as former owner of Branson and other horses, is spending a holiday in this district prior to leaving for North Auckland. Mr. W. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, was a visitor to Rotorua yesterday in conneetion with Labour Party affairs. He will probably deliver a political address here in about a month's time. Mr. J. Cliff McCulloch, of Whakatane, Mr. F. J. Farrell, of Hamilton, and Mr. E. L. Walton, of. Ngatea, members of No. 3 Transport Licensing District Board, are among those at the Geyser Hotel. Mr. Thos Fahey and Mr. J. Aldertori, of Auckland, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Attention please.
