— By Telegraph— Copyright).

Rec. August 1, 7.15 p.m. LOS ANGELES, Monday. : The officials after a lapse of three • hours announced that Healey's first trial time in the four hundred metres 1 was not a record breaking time. Jan Kusconski (Poland) won the . 10,000 metres by ten yards, Volmai Ishollo (Finland) was second, Lauri Vitononi was third and Savidan (N.Z.) was fourth. Fifteen started. The time was 30min 11.4 sec., breaking Nurmi's Olympic record, but not Nurmi's world record. The Australian manager said that considering Golding met such a crack team he ran remarkably well. The individual time was approximately 53 1 1-5-sec and is an improvement on his f ormer Olympic record. Golding lost his step at the second last hurdlej , otherwise he might have beaten Lord Burghley for third place in the semifinals. . ■ Mr. Rundle, the New Zealand man- . ager, said that Elliott and Savidan . p'erformed up to expectations. They ran fine races meeting extremely strong competition. Savidan was beaten but not disgraeed. Elliott is still in the hunt. Speaking of the chances of the -New Zealand rowing eight, Mr. Rundle said ; that he believed the Germans and Itali ians were really to be feared, and ! not the Americans, British or Cana- ! dians. The Germans particularly, ^ had had the benefit of training by the New Zealand coach, Mr. Sullivan. Mr. Rundle disclosed that Count Baillett - Latour, the president of the - International Olympic Federatio'n, i would probably artive in Wellington ' on a contemplated Australiau and New Zealand tour, in time to participate in the welcoming ceremony to ; -hBo VAtrivriino- Jgrfl team.
