GISBORNE MEETING TO-DAY'S RAGING ENDS SEASON FOR 1932 THE FIELDS REVIEWED
(Notes hy '
Down goes the curtain on the 1932 season foi" raeing to-day when the combined Gisborne and Foverty Bay clubs hold their second day. Ifiddontally it will be the last time the Gisborne Club has its flags flying for the amalgamation ends a cluh which has been racing for close Ofl fifty years. However the conjunction will he the bettei' fbr both'. Acceptances for to-day are iiot so good as Thursday but withal they are not so bad and the racing should be interesting enough. Form did not work out particularly well previously and the public did not sort the winners out well either. The Gisborne Hurdles opens the hall and eleven are set down of whom Neil, Monetize and Cat-i-mes are in the Steeples. All three Aucklanders are likely to "go for the doctor" since th'e expenses have to be paid and it would not be surprising to see them start twice. Million the winner on the first day, has weight to carry this time and should not beat Neil or Monetize whilst Cat-i-mes is liked better in the Steeples. St. Ames might bob up as might Manuiri, Atholspear reading the hest of the others. The judge may see: Neil Monetize St. Anues. from. — GISBORNE HURDLES, of £75, 11 miles. — Manuiri, 10.3; Neil, 10.6; Monetize, 10.5; Million, 9.12; St. Ames, 9.11; Atholspear, 9.8; Kaiti, 9.5; Rongo, 9.3-; King Wanga, 9.2; Cat-i-mes, Sunglare, 9.0. Six are left in the Trial, Black Songstsr heading the list with 9.6 and on his second on Thursday he looks the goods. Mena Derva, Reviver and Kahunoke may be the best left but form points to Black Songster Mena Derva Reviver from. — TRIAL HANDICAP, of £50, 6 fur. — Black Songster, 9.0; Bird Call, 8.8; Menaderva, Reviver, Evermore, Kahunoke, 8.4. The Open Mile has drawn a good field, 14 having been paid up for. Teller has a horse's weight and so has Malahat whom she just beat. Autumn Sun apparently got badly away and should make amends whilst White Fang was placed also. Orby's Choice should run better over a mile and Moa Bird and Sunny Song are fair. It is an open race with preferences for Autumn Sun Orby's Choice Good Idea ; from. — WAIKANAE HANDICAP, of £85; 1 mile. — Malahat, 9.8; Teller, 9.5; Autumn Sun, 9.1; White Fang, 8.12; Orby's Choice, Moa Bird, Sunny Song, 8.5; Head Serang, 8.4; Good ildea, 8.2; Toboggan, Rory Mor, Helium, Bob In, Lady Spy, 8.0. Jimmie Buchanan has a nice bracket in Good Idea and Hawthorn in the Haclc Six and no matter which starts there will be strong support for the cream jacket and green sash. Lady Vane is also in form as her win showed and Princess Star should go better as should Foulwind. It is very open with fancies likely to be Buchanan's bracket Lady Yane Princess Star from. — • SECOND HACK FLAT • HANDICAP, of £60; 7 fur. — Good Idea, 9.5; Hawthorn, 8.11; Lady Vane, 9.2; Beverage, 8.12; Tama Waiata, Nahi, 8.8; Primax, 8.7; Rasouli, Stitch, 8.6; Princess Star, 8.2; Bird Call, Measurer, Night Sp-eaker, Foulwind, 8.0. Nine are left in the Open Steeples, throe having other engagements. Simeon who won on Thursday seems to have gone well but only just beat Cat-i-mes and Bill Taylor is sure to try and tuni the tables. Monetize with close seconds at Ellerslie should do this course all right and Neil if started is dangerous. Freehold has shown a partiality for the timbertopping game and Haumariri did get round though he was a long way back. Tall Timber has an outsider's chance but the public are sure to support Simeon Monetize Neil from. — , TE HAPARA STEEPLECHASE, of £75; 2i miles. — Simeon, 11.7; Monetize, 10.12; Neil, 10.4; Jen, 9.12; Freehold, Cat-i-mes, 9.7; Haumariri, Tall Timber, Harrowgate, 9.0. The Turanganui Plate hns a field of "roughies" and lacking much form the votes may indicate Hunter 's Moon Swift and Sure Tarrapeen from. — TURANGANUI PLATE, of £60; 6 fur. — Bothwell, Black Songster 8.12; Terapeen, 8.11; Mister Tom, Hunting Jay, Hunter's Moon, Sunny Bachelor Swift and Sure, 8.3. Anything might win the Farewell for most are in other races, notably Buchanan's pair, Good Idea and Hawthorn, either of which would he hard if reserved. Lordly Knight won nice-
ly on Thursday as did Teller. In a very open race fancy may incline to Orby's Choioe Hunting Day Aiguille from. — FAREWELL HANDICAP, of £65; 6 fur. — Lordly Knight, Hunting Day, 9.6; White Fang, 9.1; King Wanga, 8.0; Teller, ff.l; Bold Front, Manifesto, 8.8; Orby's Choioe, Sunny Song, 8.5; Sunglare, 8.0; Aiguille, 8.3; Good Idea, 8.2; Hawthorn, Toboggan, Princess Stax-, Stitch, 8.0. SOUTH CANTERBURY FIXTURE With four North Island jumpers engaged at the South Canterbury Hunt meeting at the Washdyke course to-day there will be more than the usual interest talcen in this fixture, especially as it is the last gathering prior to the Grr.nd National at Riccarton on August 9, 11, and 13. Tho North Island quartctte is comprised of the hurdler, Full Measure, and the cross-country candidates, High Pitch, Lucess and Okapua. They cau't all win, for the throe last-named are in the Steepleehase, but all the same it looks as if this race should be won by one of the northerners. Horses that must, on form, receive the eax'nest consideration of backers at Washdyke this aftexuxoon, are the following: — Hadlow Hack and Hunters Hurdles: Full Measux'e, Rameses, Morena. Pareora Hack: Traylavah, Prince Tractor, Iceni. Teschmaker Hunt Cup: Peterette, Orifiamb, Heather Lad. South Canterbury Steepleehase : Okapua, Lucess, Lancer.
