It is always wise to buy well known and widely advertised makes when investing in a radio set. A good set has good valves and after all there are not many makes of really high-class valvos. The price should also be a guide. A eheap set must be made of cheap components ana soon — very soon — one of those cheap parts will go "phut."
Owners of battery receivers will notice that when the high tension batteries are running down harsh grating noises will develop and intermittent craekling'will be present. Thjs may be cured by placing a larga condensed (1 or 2 mfd.) across the whole battery. The condenser acts as a tank and ahsorbs sudden voltage changes
