N EW TARIFF ADOPTED BY TAURANGA POWER BOARD. OPERATING IN OCTOBER. In view of the fact that suggestior.s have bcen made with regard to a reduction in the electiic ligth charges in Rotorua, the following information with rc-card to the new tariff of the Tauranga Power Board may be it: teresting. The new taril?, vvhich will operate in October, provid ;s: — Tliis tariff is pn.pused as an alternativo to the existing domestic seale A of 8d for the first 60 units pev quarter, 2d for the next 60 units per quarter, and ld per unit for the bulance The availability will be for consumers using an eiectric range of 2.5 kilowatts or over in conjuiiction with either a continuous hot water servict of 500 watts or over, or a permanently connected water h"ater of 500 wacts or over, with thermostatic controls. The tariff to consist of two paris: (a) a flat rate of £12 per annum payable at the rate of £1 per month; (b) a unit charge of a half penny per unil for all units metered for domestic supply for all purposes (lighting, heating cooking and domestic motors up to t h.p.) Ahe consumers to have the option of changing to this lariff or remaining under the existing scale A. The ■proposal does not in any way aff-ct the existing tariff, nor would it maka any difference to any proposed alterations to Scale A tiiat may be ecnsidered later. This tariff, Scale AI to be available on all accounts rendered on or after October 1, 1932. If this is adopted it will be necessary for consumers to notify the Seeretary in writing, of their decision to change over from the existing tariff. Should the alternative tariff be adopted by the Board we would reeommend that ranges ba installed at a fixed price, including the cost oi installation and that same be financed on the following easy terms: — (a) Deposit £1; (b) monthly instalments 10s; (c) no interest. Water Heatevs.— (a) Deposit, 10s(b) monthly instalments, 5s; (c) nc interest. Any increase in price -over standard fixed prices to be paid for in cash. We would also recommend that the tariffs as now adopted be reprinted (to include recent alterations) and cir culated to consumers together with an explanatory circulAr con/cerning the tariff alterations, ranges and water heaters
