IN WITNESS /BOX SWINDELL AGAIN EXAMINED DURING TIN HARE INQUIRY HIS CAR AND BAJ(K ACCOUNT

At the meehanical hare inquiry, Frederick Swindell was further examimed ahout his bank account and safe deposit fund, also about a paotor car costing about £1400. Swindell admitted that the most he had ever had in a safe deposit was £3000. He also revealed the .existence of a propaganda fund, into which the Greyhound Coursing Association had paid £50 weekly. This was for tbe purpose of educating the people as to the clean nature of this sport. The money was given to Swindell to spend as he thought best 'Ile said that the money paid for the car was eharged against his eommission account. Swindell was allowed to leave the witness box owing to his being unwell. Gregory Kerghery, a direcfcor of the Greyhound Coursing Association, admitted that Mr. J. T. Lang, was a friend of his. Questioned closely regarding a number of cheques issued by his company, witness explained that one cheque for £1000 was- in payment for his services over five years. He added" "If I had got double that amount, I would not have been more than compensated for the work I did." Asked to explain another financial transaction eovering £131 witness re- ! plied: That must have been for money I was spending round. ■Witness was unable to explain how i be eame to receive another cheque for £75 ten days later. The hearing was adjourned.
