A meeting of interest to golfers and intending golfers, partieularly those using the new golf course in the Government grounds, will he held at The Bungalow to-night to consider the formation of a Citizens' Golf Club to use the new links. All interested are requested to attend at 8 p.m , ladies being specially invited. Public Service Dance. At a meeting of the Rotorua branch of the Public Service Association held on Friday evening last it was decided that a social and dance under the auspices of the Association be held on August 24, the proceeds to be donated to the funds of the Rotorua Women's Club. Anticipated a Penalty. Asked if he had anything to say, a Maori defendant, Pini Haupapa, in the S.M. Court yesterday, responded; "No, only you allow me a week to P'ay, eh!" to the Bench. However, his plea fell on deaf ears, for he was fined £1 and 17s costs for allowing a mare and foal to wander on the Marine Parade, and no time was allowed School Football. Close games resulted in the Rotorua primary school rugby matches played last week. The match between the Convent and Whaka Sehools ending in favour of the former team by 6 points to nil, and Ngongotaha defeating a Rotorua School B side by 6 poinst to 3. Repaix-s to Mower. A somewhat lengthy dispute over the repairs to a mowing machine, between Worrall and Anderson, of Rotorua, and Alexander Ross, farmer, of Reporoa, v/as deeided by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in favour of plaintiffs, the sum of £4 5s 6d and costs being awarded. Prospect of Bstter Water Supply. In answer to representations made by Councillor Geo. Urquhart to the Minister yesterday it was revealed by Hon. Adam Hamilton that the Tourist Department had in hand a scheme for the improvement of the Rotorua water supply but that finance was the main difficulty.
