THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroiogist lssued the following weather report and forecast last night: — Generai situation: Pressure has risen somewhat over New Zealand, but a moderate depression is passing over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds light, moderate, and variable, south-westerlies to north-easterlies prevailing, freshening in the far north. Weather: For the most part fair / and rather milder, but becoming un- / settled j'n the north and western por- / tions of the South Island, rain de-/ Veloping and gradually becomingj more generai; coastal showers aloo in the sguthern districts. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.865ins. Thermometer (max.) 50.8deg. Thermometer (min.) 28.3deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 23.3deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 6.7hrs.
