WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
WAIMANA BRANC1I The monthly meeting of the Waimana Nukuhou Women's Institute was held recently in the Waimana. Hall, Mrs Woodfield presiding. There was a large attendance of members pa*esent. A letter was received from the Rev. Jasper Calder thanking the members for their donation of money. (The proceeds from the social held in aid of Auckland's needy). An interesting demonstration on the making of slippers was given by Mrs Clark, of Nukuhou, while the making of a patchwork quilt kept the members busy during the afternoon. The Institute's competition — an eggless calte — was won by Mrs Hewitt with Mrs T. Wardlaw second and Mrs Black third. Another competition, arranged hy Mrs Varley, of Taneatua, was won by Mrs Hewitt. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames J. Smalley, Savage and Marra. The singing of the National Anth'em brought an enjoyable and busy afternoon to a close.
