UNSUCCESSFUL ' ATTEMPT TO BREAK OPEN SAFE

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

HAMILTON, Saturday. The premises of Messrs George Boyes and Ccmpany Ltd., estate agents and auctioneers, Alma Street were broken into last night and an abortive attempt made to force the office safe with gelignite. Entrance was made to the premises by smashing a fanlight in Mr. J. A. Burson's office and slipping the window catch. The safe was only slightly damaged, papers which had apparently been used for packing the explosive being strewn about the office fioor. As there was no money in the safe nothing would have been gained in forcing it.
