HAIR STYLES
ATTRACTIVE COIFFURES SET BY THE STARS. With shorter hair now in vogue, Janet Gaynor and Joan Bennett both have appeared in the favourite haunts of the screen sma:'t set — Cocoanut Grove, the Brown Derby, the Roosevelt and Baltmore- wearing new hair arrangements that seem destineri to become aeceppted • tyles. Janet Gaynor's hair is esjecially luxuriant and of a rich copper-brown shade. It lends itself admirably to the new brushed back hair style which reveals the hair-line, either on the forehead, the neck, or all around the head, as fancy wills. Miss Gaynor has had her hair cut since hor return from Paris, where quite short hair is the mode of the moment. Then the arrangement is similar to her "Delicious" hob, which swept the realm of the debutantes last winter. She has had about two inches of hair cut from its length. Her hair is parted on the right side and falls in its natural wave all around her head in horseshoe shape. On either side the hair is brushed back, revealing the hair-line. The rather heavy bang which characterised the "Delicious" hob has been reduced to an ethereal bang that softens the forehead hair-line. Across the back of her neck the hair-line is visible from ear to ear. The rends of the hair are finished in innumerable curls that roll upward, youthfully. While presenting a certain sophisticated elfect, it brings out all the wistful Gaynor beauty. She is undecided whether she will wear her hair in this style permanently, but she had it cut because she felt she wanted a change the same as any other girl who has worn her hair shoulder-length for several years. Joan Bennett's hair is a beautiful golden hue. She had her long bob cut, revealing her hair-line, for her wedding to Gena Marlcey, playwright and short story writer. Previous to her hair cut, Miss Bennett's bob was known as "La Fiesta Bob," particularly popular with the debutante set of south ?rn California. The new hob is a modification of the old one. It is a bit more sophisticated and appears to especial advantage in her latest picture "Weeks-ends Only." Parted on the left side, both sides are equally alluring. The part is low, giving ample opportunity for an unusually wide first wave on the heavy side of the part. The first dip on the right side is over the temple. The ear is covered and the end of the hair is curled upward. On the lcft side the hair is brushed back, revealing th'e hair-line and the ear. In the back the neck hair-line is visible from ear to ear. Across the back of the head the hair is waved in the popular swirl effect. It is attractive both for formal and informal wear and looks well with the tiny hats now being worn.
