WHITE CARGO

SCREEN ADAPTION OF VERA SYMINGTON'S NOVEL, "HELL'S PLAYGROUND." MAJESTIC ON THURSDAY. "White Cargo" which opens at the I Majestic Theatre on July 28, is W. ; I P. Film's screen version o£ Vera j I Symington's novel "Hell's Play- I I ground" and made famous by Leon ! I Gordon. With rare distinction Dir- ; ! ector J. B. Williams has chosen to re- j produce the vividness of the novel ' ; exactly as written in the hook. All tho pathos and dramatic poig- ' nancy of Miss Symington's story are , faithfully reeorded in the celluloid i 1 adaptation. The story rings true from every standpoint and for sheer drama and realism, has yet to be beaten since the advent of the sound medium. With a cast that seems as though made for the eharacters, Williams has guided the picture through its many vicissitudes, and has brought out the wide humanity of the story. Tho story deals with life in the very raw — and the action takes place on a West. African rubber plantation. It loses nothing as a dialogue picture and the photography is beautifully realistic. Gypsy Rhouma, who plays the part of Tondeleyo, gives a splendid interpretation of the native girl. Miss Rhouma's many successful years on the dramatic stage show her up well

in her fiawless technique and she is very capably supported by Lesiie Faber, John Hamilton, Maurice Evans and Tom Helmore.
