HOARD IN CUSHION

(Press. Assn.-

ACCIDENTAL DISCOVERY

— By Telegraph — Copyright).

Rec. July 22, 7.0 p.m. PARIS, Friday. An extraordinary episode occurred at the Hotel de Scentes. At a dull sale^ halfi a dozen dealers began kicking a cushion about. Suddenly the cushion burst open and bank notes and secu'rities valuied at 100,000 francs poured out. The cushion belonged to an elderly woman who had died intestate, and whose belongings were 'being sold for the State. The money is a windfall for the Treasury. This curious example of hoarding is due to the distrust of the banking system, so common among the French peasantry.
