WINTER EGGS Most backyard f owls can lay many more eggs in Winter tlian they usually do. All the birds need to become regular profit earners is a little persuasion. Hundreds of poultry-keepers throughout New Zealand have proved that the best "bit of persuasion" that can be given to fowls is a little Karswood Poultry Spice (eontaining ground insects) in the daily raash. Karswood is an enriehing tonie and brings about results in a perfeetly natural manner. It does not force the birds, but gently coaxes them to more active laying. Prove this to your profit. "It may interest you to Tcnow that , altlioiigli I have only a few birds, I have found the use of Karswood of great Venefit for lceeping the birds fit. During the Summer months they lay well, but it is the slaclc period that shows the benefit of feeding for eggs. By feeding them on Karswood I get at least two extra eggs per bird per iveelc, and this is during the Winter months when eggs are most needed, — TL.T."' Original* letter on file for inspection. Karswood Poultry Spice is obtainable from all wholesalers and stores at the following standard retail prices: — 11b.

RODENT'S STRANGE REFUGE. In Sydney last week 100 people stopped and gaped and women squealed, while a well dressed man in Pitt Street, with' a rat inside his trousers leg, leaped and yelled libe a fanatical Dervish for nearly five minutes. Eventually the rat dropped from its most embarrassing position of refuge and a man in the crowd jumped on it and killed it. Some groceries were being carried from a motor lorry when the rat sprang out from a case and disappeared up the man's trousers. After it had left him he hurriedly disapp«eared.
