QUIETER TONE PREVAILS AND WITHDRAWALS FREQUENT.

LONDON, Thursday. At the wool saies 10,795 bales were offered, including 4,540 of New Zealand. About 3,903 bales were sold. There was a quieter sale and withdrawals were frequent. The total number of bales catalogued was 115,070, including 59,500 bales of Australian, and 33,621 of New Zealand. The bales sold to Home buyers totalled 60,500, and to Continental purchasers 38,500. The holdover is 97,500 bales, of which 90,000 bales were not offered. Merino greasy closed at 10 per cent. above June closing; scoured, 10 to 15 per cent.; fine crossbreds, 10 per cent ; medium coarse, 15 and 20 per cent.; slips, 10 to 15 per cent. The next series will open on September 20*
