SHARP RISE IN BEEF PRICES REPORTED AT FRANKTON
HAMILTON, Tuesday. I At the weekly stock sale at the J| Frankton yards to-day ox and cow j j| beef was penned in smaller numbers H than usual. The quality was good |j and prices rose approximately £1 a H head. Heavy prime ox, £7 10s to £8 13 10s; medium prime, £6 to £7 5s; 1 prime heavy cows, £6 10s to £7 ; | prime fat heifers, £5 15s to £6 8s; | medium prime ditto, £5 to £5 10s; | lighter prime, £4 10s to £4 18s; fat I cows, £4 15s to £5 10s; light ditto., \ £2 10s to £3 17s 6d. | Sheep. — There was a medium yard- | ing of sheep, ewe mutton being in ■ .■trong demand. Prime wethers, 12s l 6d tol3s lld; medium, 11s to 12s 3d; j prime fat ewes, 9s to 10s 6d; medium, jj 7s to 8s 8d; light, 5s to 6s 6d; heavy | fat lambs (12s to 13s 6d; medium fat \ lambs, 9s to 10s 6d; light, 7s 6d to j 8s 9d. | Pigs. — There was a small yarding jj of fat pigs and a big yarding of \ stores and weaners.
