THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroiogist lasued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General situation: While the anticyclone over New ealand has been losing its intensity, the cyclone to the northward has gradually deepened and is now *moving southward. Winds: Strong easterlies to southerlies north of Kawhia and East Cape, of gale force in piacesj moderate northerlies in the far south, elsewhere freshening south-easterlies to easterly. Weather: Unsettled, dull and misty with rain developing at first in the north and eastern portions of the . North Island, and shortly becoming fairly general; some heavy falls Iikely from Hawkes Bay 'northwards. Following are tne barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 30.223ins. Thermometer (max.) 54.0deg. Thermometer (min.)' 34.2deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 28.8deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 7,3hrs.
