MONTREAL, Tuesday. The Empress of Britain was involved in a collision with the tramp steamer Briarwood near Red Island in the St. Lawrence River about 8 o'clock this morning. She has reported to the head office of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company that the damage is not serious. Both vessels have proceeded toward Quebec. The Empress of Bri- ! tain has been delayed several hours ! by fog. Though specific details were i not immediately available, it was asi sumed that the fog was the cause of the collision. Passengers were at breakfast when the bump of the collision was felt.
