LINK WITH N.Z. On item in connection with the death of the late Viscount Herbert Plumer has a special interest to the Rotorua and Waikato districts. The late Field-Marshal was honorary Golonel-in-Chief of the IVth Waikato Mounted Rifles regiment, having accepted that post at the close of the South African War, when he was invited to choose any New Zealand regiment. His choice fell upon the Waikato Mounted Rifles (which was then the Second Auckland Mounted Rifles) as a tribute to a small patrol of Waikato men who succeeded in | capturing three times tbeir number of Boers,
