The Government meteorotogist Iscued the followihg weather report and forecsst last night:— General situation: An intense anticyclone covers New Zealand and the Tasman Sea, but a moderate wave of low pressure has been crossing the Tasman to-day. Forecast: Winds' light and variable, but tending northerly inand south of Cook Strait, later freshening. Weather: Fine generally, but some showers likely at Foveaux Strait and later in the western districts- of the South lsland; cold to-night with many frosts. .. . . Following are tne barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observa,tion Station by the Rotorua Touriat Department, ,for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 30.347ins. Thermometer (rhax.) ;...... 52.9deg. Thermometer (min.) 33.0deg. Thermometer (min. cn grass) 29.7deg. Rainfall ■••• Nil Bright Sunshine — 6.1hrs.
